Your sense of self is built on shifting ground. Occasionally life gives you obvious lessons, but even those you can forget. More often you don't realize you've changed until the change has already settled in. Priorities shift, strangers become friends, you start going to the sauna. How do you tap into a universal oneness and still live an individual life?

I don't know! But this book is an exploration of all that. There's also a subplot that happens in the sauna at the public gym.

“Utterly refreshing… rich, layered, textured, and almost supernaturally communicative… An ambitious, personal, and richly expressive work that reminds us what comics are capable of.Ryan C., Four Color Apocalypse

“The Shifting Ground is a comic about the ability to change your mind and reconsider what your brain consumes — and Walsh does this seemingly in real time on the page.”RJ Casey, The Comics Journal

I worked on this comic for over a year during the most hectic time of my life thus far. It’s weird to work on the slow medium of comics while writing and drawing about the shifts that happen in life. So many significant shifts have happened to me since I began this book… I guess volume 2 is writing itself!
